2inch or 1.5 inch Wand?

What size should I buy ? I do a fair amount of residential and commercial carpet so which one is better, why did they go back to 1.5 inch if 2" is so great ? Or is it , IDK.

I was raised 1.5 for portables and 2 inch for TM's. But the reality work with what you are comfortable with.

We use 2 inch exclusively on our trucks. It's all my employees know. If they see the 1.5 they assume they have a porty job and start bitchin. lol

I learned on a prochem quad without a glide. I hated my job then also.

So, when I got started on my own, I bought a 1.5" and loved it. Then I went 2" with my Mach15 after about 10years with my 1.5", and I'm not missing the 1.5".

2 inch Devastator wand is what I use and really like it. But the 2 inch vs 1 and a half inch is really beside the point..the swivel is a joy to use.

Depends on the wand.

I've been using an old prochem quad ss and it dry better and locks down more than the 2 inch I got a month ago.

It's an inch and three quarter but it's still better than the new one, it's just so dang small of a head it takes a lot longer and a lot more work to use it.

You're killing yourself using that thing. I dropped mine when I got my mach15. It's just wasting energy doing twice the work twice as hard.

I need to try one. This 2. Inch 14 inch head works pretty good. I just gotta turn the pressure up a lot more.

I really like how the quad cleans and gets it dry. My shoulder has toughened up lol.

The last 2 days I have been using my 2 inch westpack wand, just to compare to my Mach 12 1.5. yesterday, I ran my regular 2 inch vac hose straight to the wand and struggled with the weight and stiffness of the hose. It was awkward to use and much harder on my back. Today, I used a 15 foot whip of a single wall 2 inch hose and had better results. The lighter hose pulled less on the wand and made it much more usable. If I was going to continue to use it on a regular basis, I would add a swivel cuff where the hose connects to the wand. It is still a heavy beast. I think it is worthwhile to invest in a titanium wand. Much lighter and easier to use. I didn't notice much of a difference in dry times.

The 1.5/12 we have up for option two six and a half pounds doesn't really get any lighter than that and a total bargain at $380 starting price

I have a 2 inch 2 inch and a half tapered vacuum Ultra lightweight lead hose that I really like not sure who makes it pmf gave it to me Larry called me know something about it

Unless all your portables already and only have 1.5 connection, I see no reason not to use the 2".

With a decent portable (2 x 3 stage motors, yet better- the newer ones that are a total beast) and decent runs (no longer than 50'), in my experience, the 2" recovers better with a portable and dries faster.

Once you get used to it, the convenience factor is not that much different with the 2"- A little less easy to grip and a little less flexibility to maneuver in real tight spaces. After a couple of weeks, it will not bother you at all. And you don't have to carry more wands and equipment with you. Pull the first 50 from the truck and use the same wand.

Practicality is the word. Simplicity is still a lost art
