Fuel Pump???

New trouble:

Truckmount dies while on a job this morning.

Go outside to restart and notice that when I switch the key over, there is no noise coming from the fuel pump.

Mine makes enough noise to where I've always heard it pumping if the key is engaged one click prior to 'start'.

Today.... nothing. no noise, not a peep.

Followed the fuel line to the floor of the van, along with the wiring, and apparently it is mounted beneath a plate or bracket, on the unerside of the van floor, just above the fuel tank? anyway, i jiggle the wiring a little and the fuel pump is working again.

Or at least working FOR NOW

Is it the wire going right into the fuel pump? or is it just a bad splice?

Just a bad connection I would check the ground there should only be two wires that feed that fuel pump.

Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago was at a job and my peak quit. Took it home removed the gas line from carb and turned key on no fuel. So got under van took the plate off over the pump grabbed the power wire and the connector feel into my hand.Redid it and was back in busniess again. Lesson learned.

I just sort of threw it out there, Marty.

Nebraska people are weird if you get outside of Omaha.

I'm from California, so these folks out here seem pretty mild to me.

Loose connection. Reconnect them and you should be good to go.

Re: Fuel Pump??? PART II

So it was a corroded ground wire at the fuel pump.

I barely touched it and it just separated.

Took me longer to find these nifty blue connectors at the auto parts store, than it did to do the repair in the parking lot.

If the wire is exposed to the eliments I would solder the wires together, and heat shrink tube them so moisture can't get to it.. That will last 10 times longer then any connector.
