Les Jone was telling me about an APO type pump that is indestructible and will pump sand for 20 years non stop..

Why didn't they use the cast iron rotor in the Ace pump?

Cast iron is an option when you order it. Is there an advantage? Seems like it would rust out after a while. Not sure what came with mine since I haven't opened it up yet.

It would have taken many years for it to rust in that environment.

I pulled it apart and it had the cast iron impeller. Looks great. Wasn't working because it was clogged with hair.

At 16hg it pumps like mad. I must have clogged it a little first time I used it. It never worked this well.

Thanks Walt, that's good to know.

I've done that before, assume something is kaput...and then find the silly simple solution an embarrassingly long time after I should have.
